Hi , my name is Deon van der Merwe and below is some information about me as a photographer.

Q: How long have you been a photographer?
A: I have been doing it for 16 years now

Q: How did you get involved in photography?
A: I got my first film SLR camera that was a camera my dad got from a family member but all he wanted was a small easy camera , so I took it and spend endless money that I worked for on film , processing and printing. There were lots of errors but got me going. I got work as a student at a local photo print shot and became a printer a year later, the funny thing about that is . because you see so much photos of what other people take photos of , you learn what works and what not , thus it sparked my mind into creative shots and that is what kept me going all these year.

Q: What other photography work are you involved in?
My first and foremost photography choice is sport photography, the ability to capture action as it happens. It never gets old , every time is a challenge to get the great shot that tells the story and capture the moment. I also do all types of photos , from Wildlife to Families , from Pregnancy to Portrait, the creativeness has no boundaries and every opportunity brings new options and creative sparks, so I will try everything to capture a shot that makes the mind go wow.

Q: Three words that best describe your work
A: Fun, Fast and Creative.

Q: How do you keep on top of your game?
A: Being creative is the key, because I also come with a big background in design , I can try new photos based on the design concept I see, thus making me take photo at different times and angles to create contras and then the passion to get the next great photo is always there.
